Logistics
Whether we're supporting the U.S. military, a civilian agency or an international organization, Lockheed Martin's logistics services can mean the difference between boots on their way and boots on the ground. We work in the United States and over 30 countries overseas ensuring that our customers have the support they need, from maintenance and refurbishing of equipment to transportation and air operations. Among our current activities, we manage Army Field Logistics Readiness Centers at Fort Stewart and Fort Benning, handle equipment distribution and support for the Marine Corps, operate missile ranges at Kwajelein and Wallops Island, and provide operations support to U.S. diplomatic facilities in Russia and China.
Long-term peace and stability in any country require strong local institutions. Lockheed Martin has extensive experience helping strengthen host-country capabilities in support of U.S. foreign policy objectives. Our dedicated teams of professionals have provided training and equipment for several African nations allowing them to participate in peacekeeping duties in Darfur and elsewhere on the continent. We are currently working with nations with tragic histories of conflict such as Afghanistan, Liberia and Haiti to create law enforcement and judicial organizations that can administer justice and support the rule of law. By helping others manage their own affairs, we are helping to stengthen local institutions and prevent future conflicts.
Stability operations, including peacekeeping help bridge the divide between open hostilities and peaceful national development. Lockheed Martin is proud to support these efforts, whether that's through the construction and operation of peacekeeper base camps in Chad and Darfur, managing air operations for international organizations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or supporting the U.S. military and State Department in Iraq and Afghanistan. We go where our customers need us and can be ready at a moment's notice to get the job done.
Lockheed Martin serves customers in a broad range of markets that demand greater supply chain and asset management, operational performance and risk management. Through our Savi businesses, we focus on markets where success is determined by the ability of an organization to optimize the use of mobile, high-value, high-risk, or business critical assets in large or complex networks. Our full range of capabilities support the defense, public sector, and commercial markets.
Savi supports the U.S. Department of Defense, which is building the world's largest Automatic Identification Technology-based cargo monitoring network (Radio Frequency In-Transit Visibility), spanning 4,000 locations in more than 50 countries and tracking 35,000 shipments daily.
